The site has been specifically designed to look for information from Facebook, Wikipedia and many other sources on the web. The Leeds Local Offer website pulls everything together in one place for you.</div><p> </p><p class="moreInfo"><a title="read more" href="http://leedslocaloffer.org.uk/"><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><font color="#0066cc">Leeds Local Offer</font></span></a></p></div>
Children and Families Act 2014Children and Families Act 2014<div class="ExternalClassA6AD0B67B3AE4F919FDEA9FE0713529E"><div>There are changes taking place to services for children and young people with special needs and disabilities. Some new laws have been agreed as part of the Children and Families Act 2014. These changes will start from September 2014 and should improve things for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.</div><div>What do the new laws say?<br>Councils must make sure that children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities can get good information about fun things to do and services to help them. This is called The Local Offer.</div><div>Children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities must get to have more of a say about the services they use. People in charge of councils and health services must listen to the views of children and young people and take them into account.</div><div>There will be a new assessment process and new Education, Health and Care Plans for some children and young people in future</div><div>An assessment is when people like teachers and health workers talk to you and your family to find out what support you need as you learn and grow up. An Education, Health and Care Plan is used to decide what support you will get, and write it down in one place.</div><div>Not everyone needs an Education, Health and Care Plan. They are only for people who need lots of support. If you have a Statement or a Learning Difficulty Assessment now, you may have one of the new plans instead in future.</div><div>Please get in touch if you would like to join a parent/ carer or young person user group and receive our regular newsletter, surveys and invitations to focus groups. There are lots of benefits to joining a user group including gaining new skills and experiences, sharing your views and feeling listened to and playing an active role in improving services for the children and young people in Leeds.
